Welcome to my website

Sandra ReevesI am a graphic designer and illustrator by training and for years also worked three-dimensionally in copper and silver producing jewellery and sculptures. I work predominantly in ink, watercolour and acrylic. I produce illustrations on watercolour paper from as small as 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" (ACEOs) to A3  (29.7cm x 42 cm) and canvases from A5 (148 x 210) to beyond 1.2 metres.

I find inspiration all around me – amongst my interests are writing for children, nature, people-cat-dog and gull-watching! The spontaneous scenarios entered in my sketch pad are often the basis for my illustrations and storylines. I live on a peninsula with its own micro-climate close to the sea and this influence is often reflected in my work - out here nature reveals its many faceted modes from passive and idylic to the most aggressive and dramatic, the weather can change in an instant. I love to walk along the beach in all weathers - it's not for the faint-hearted at times but it's thoroughly exhillerating - the defience of the sea, its sculptural influence on all elements it encounters and its majesty.

I have a quirky sense of humour and positive outlook on life which I often express through my art. My intention is  to bring joy, spark the imagination, challenge and even tease the viewer. I also address deeper, more serious subjects.
